KaleidoFlow™ Rheoscopic Fluid is Laminar Sciences’ main product. KaleidoFlow Rheoscopic Fluid reacts to fluid turbulence with an explosion of colors that move and morph like a kaleidoscope. Technically, the fluid is a liquid crystal. Localized ordering occurs in response to shear forces (eg, stirring). These domains are birefringent. As such, they produce colors when observed with polarized light. When the fluid is allowed to be still for several seconds the colors disappear as a result of Brownian motion destroying (melting) the crystals. KaleidoFlow™ Rheoscopic Fluid can used for scientific or educational fluid flow visualization and/or by artists looking to creating mesmerizing colorful kinetic art pieces.
